When I was baptised many years ago, a dear Christian friend gave me Jeremiah 29 v 11 as my baptismal verse and it is a verse I have come back to so many times over the years. It seems particularly relevant in these current times when God’s plan seems hard (not to mention scary), so I thought I would share it.

“For I know the plans I have for you” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future”

Jeremiah 29:11

Like us all, I am human and although I find the verse a great encouragement, in difficult times doubt creeps. I start to think why is this happening and I start to question and become fearful even though I know God is with me in such times. If it is sometimes hard for you to trust God, think of Hagar one of many people in the Bible who learnt to
trust God even though her situation seemed impossible and God did not fail her.

“Be strong and courageous for the Lord your God goes with you”

Deuteronomy 31:6

Let’s remember these promises as we go forward in these difficult times knowing our God is always with us. I have chosen the following songs for us today. The first song is not one we sing at CCC but I like it anyway and I think it fits with what I’ve said.

God bless and stay safe.

When our world is shaken, it is easy for fear to spread. But God promises to be with us no matter what comes our way. In times of uncertainty, it is more important than ever to trust who God is and how He says we can live – Not Afraid. This series shows the timeless truth that we were created to trust in God. Enjoy listening to Craig Groeschel preaching the first message in the Not Afraid series – bear in mind that we are a couple of weeks behind the start of the series so the message needs to be listened to in that context but nevertheless contains much truth that we can learn from.
