Hello!
Have you had a good week? Did you do anything special to celebrate VE Day with your family? I hope you’ve been remembering to be thankful after we learnt about the thankful leper with Julia B last Sunday! Taliah and I used one of Julia’s ideas and made this together last Sunday morning using my phone and the laptop. Which is your favourite letter?

Today, we are going to be learning about the lost coin and how precious we are to God. Before we do, let’s sing another of our songs together – don’t forget the actions!
Katharine

Hello – it’s Julia O here! Have you ever lost anything? You search everywhere but you just cannot find it! You know you put it in a safe place so that you could find it next time you needed it but now it’s not where you thought it was. Lots of things get lost, don’t they? Maybe its just a sock? Or maybe it’s your homework (oh no!!) Or worse still maybe it’s your phone (if you have one). What if it’s some money you were saving up or worst of all something that was really precious and valuable?
I once lost my expensive sunglasses while I was swimming in the sea. A big wave had crashed right over me, and my sunglasses came off!! We looked for them for ages to see if they had washed up on the beach but there was no sign of them.
Think about how you have felt when you have lost something? I know I felt upset and a bit mad! I couldn’t forget about it and kept wondering where they were. So, two hours later I walked back along the beach and guess what?! There were my glasses stuck in the middle of a circle of sandcastles! I was over the moon!

Our story today is about a woman who lost something very precious – a coin. Watch the clip together:

Now that you have watched the clip, you will know that Jesus was teaching the people by telling them a parable – that’s a story with a meaning. He asked the people what a woman would do if she had ten silver coins, but she had lost one of them. She was a poor woman and there was no electricity or torches in bible times, so she lit a candle and then swept her whole house, looking everywhere for the lost coin which was very precious to her. When she finally found it, she called all her friends and neighbours together to tell them how happy she now was.
This story is a picture of how precious you are to God. God never gives up on you. He is always looking out for you! When we promise to live our life in a way that pleases God, Jesus said even the angels are happy and there is a party in heaven! And the best news of all is that, although we can sometimes get lost from God, He never loses us!

You could learn a verse from the Bible off by heart to remind you that God never gives up on you – he is always looking out for you.
In Luke chapter Luke 10 verse 19 it says:

If you want something a bit more tricky, try 2 Chronicles chapter 16 verse 9:

Choose from these activities:
1. Draw a picture of today’s story and colour it in. You could print this one if you wanted. Remember to hide a coin somewhere in your picture and see if someone else can find it!
2. Print and try this wordsearch.
3. Find some coins and make some coin rubbings with wax crayons.
4. Ask a grown-up to hide 10 objects. How long does it take you to find them all?
5. Try to make a paper plate purse like this one. Maybe you could make or find some coins for it as well!

Finish by praying together and thanking God for how how He never gives up on you! You could listen to this song as well if you like. An 8 year old girl called Amy wrote a poem about staying safe at home during lockdown. John Hardwick from Counties wrote a tune and now together they have written a song!

Have a great week and don’t forget to send in any pictures of anything you do at home – or maybe a video of you saying one of the memory verses!
See you next week!
