Hello!
Have you had a good week? I hope you managed to have some fun outside in the lovely sunshine! It’s half term next week … which means less school work and more time for fun! Yay!
After “Doing Church Differently For Kids” last week, Taliah decided to make some boats out of some the things she found in our recycling bin and on Monday afternoon we went to sail them in a stream near our house. As you can see it was a little deeper than we thought! Taliah got very wet and had to walk home with water sloshing in her wellies! She thought it was lots of fun. I’m not sure I agreed!!!

Today, Marion is going to tell us about Joseph and we’re going to be thinking about “It’s Not Fair!” Before that, lets’s sing together. Some of you love the air guitar in this song so I hope you’re going to play it well! This is quite a long version so you might want to pause it where we usually do.

It’s not fair!
How many times have you said “It’s not fair”? It might be the time in the playground when everyone else is playing together and you’ve been left out -‘It’s not fair!’ It might be the time you have visitors (after lockdown!) and it’s your bedtime but your brothers and sisters get to stay up later – ‘It’s not fair!’
I’m sure you can think of many other examples but let’s take a look at the life of Joseph in the Bible. He was one of many brothers but he was his dad’s favourite and he bought him a fancy coloured coat … his brothers said ‘It’s not fair!’ They sold him to slavery and told his dad he was dead … Joseph said ‘It’s not fair!’ He rose to be the head of the household and his master’s wife said she liked him but he knew it was wrong and she told lies about him and his master threw him into jail … Joseph said ‘It’s not fair!’ but Joseph was recognised as the best in the prison! He also helped by interpreting dreams for the cup-bearer and the baker and the cup-bearer said he would get him released but that didn’t happen for at least another two years as the cup-bearer forgot all about him … Joseph said ‘It’s not fair!’ There were many, many times that Joseph encountered times in his life when things just weren’t fair. But each time God brought good out of those situations and never left Joseph. God never promised a life where everything would be fair but He did promise to be with us and help us face whatever we are going through.
Have a look at this video and see if you can pick out some the moments in Joseph’s life when things weren’t fair but how God was with him all along.
Here’s a great verse for you to learn this week. It is found in Romans chapter 8 verse 28. Just like Joseph, if we love the Lord He will bring good from all situations.
‘And we KNOW that in all things God works for the good of those who LOVE him, who have been called to his purpose.’
Romans 8 verse 28

Choose from these activities:
1) Talk about, draw or write down all the times when you have thought things weren’t fair and then compare it to Joseph’s life or you could compare your ‘It’s not fair’ list to those who are living in India in slums and have no schooling. It might just help you to realise how good our life actually is!
2) Draw a picture of Joseph’s amazing coloured coat or a picture of his angry brothers as he dances around in his coloured coat. Here’s a colour by numbers one you could print if you like!
3) Draw the outline of Joseph’s coat and stick lots of multi-coloured scraps of paper or material all over it.
4) Print and try this wordsearch.
Have fun and remember next time you go to say ‘It’s not fair’, think again and say “It’s not fair but …” (fill in the blank!)
Finish by listening to this song about Joseph’s life which reminds us that God always works all things for good because He always has a plan!
