Hello again!
I can’t believe it’s Sunday already! Have you had a good week? I hope so! Taliah and I made the storm in a bottle craft this week that Lois told us about in her post last Sunday. It was fun to shake the bottle and see the chaos of the ‘storm’ as everything swirled around and then we enjoyed waiting for it to settle into calmness. The longer we waited, the calmer it got! A great reminder of Jesus calming the storm that we heard about last week.

Let’s sing together before we hear from Niamh. This week I’ve chosen One Way Jesus. It reminds us that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. I hope you can remember the actions as they’re a bit complicated! Maybe you could let me know your favourite kids church song and we can use it next week?

Hi! It’s Niamh here!
Today we are going to be talking about family and being accepted into God’s family.
In lockdown, we have all had to spend more time with our families than we are usually used to. Sometimes this has been nice. Sometimes it has been annoying ? – I have to listen to my dad singing extra loud in the shower constantly and Lois keeps trying to drag me out on runs daily. I feel very sorry for Malc having to put up with Marion every day! What have you enjoyed about spending extra time with your family? What has been more annoying?
We’re going to watch and listen to a story from the New Testament about a little man called Zacchaeus – he was a tax collector and not many people liked him or spending time with him at all.
Talk about these questions:
1) Why didn’t people like Zacchaeus?
2) What did Jesus want to do when he met Zacchaeus?
3) Why were the people annoyed?
4) What happened next?
Even though Zacchaeus was very unpopular and nobody really liked him very much, Jesus still wanted to spend time with him. He still wanted to be his friend. God accepts everyone and loves everyone the same, no matter what you look like, wear, what others think of you or even what you think of yourself. Because of this, we also should accept everyone and try to love everyone the same as this is what God does for us.
Here is a verse for you to try to learn which talks about how much God loves everyone. It is found in John Chapter 3 verse 16:
“For God so loved the world He gave His only son and whoever believes in Him shall not die but have eternal life”

Choose from these activities:
1) Draw or paint a picture of Zacchaeus in the tree trying to see Jesus. You could print and colour this one if you like.
2) Print and try this activity sheet.
3) See if you can make up a song or a poem about Zacchaeus. Maybe use each letter of his name as the start of each line.
4) Use some brown and green paint to make a handprint tree. Draw Zacchaeus in the tree and Jesus underneath talking to him.

Finish by listening or singing along to this song. It’s a song that used to be one of my favourites when I was in Sunday school like you.
It talks about how we can all be part of God’s family.
I hope you have a good week!
Niamh
