Hello!
I hope you and your family are all well, staying safe and have had a good week. Someone made this amazing paper plate purse after we learnt about the lost coin last week. Can you guess who? I’ll give you a clue – it was a grown up!

We can’t go to the swimming pool at the moment but I was wondering … can you swim? Can you float in water without moving? I can do both. So can my girls. Foster can swim but he can’t float. We always have lots of fun on holiday watching him try to float in the pool!
Go in the kitchen with a grown up and get a bowl of water. Can you find something that will sink to the bottom? Can you find something that will sink a little bit? Can you find something that will float?
We’re going to be thinking about sinking today but first we’re going to sing together – one of the songs we love to sing together when we’re at church. You’re going to need quite a bit of space for the actions today. Try to get your family to join in with you!

Today’s story is about something that seems impossible. People can swim. People can float. But people most definitely can’t walk on water! Watch today’s video together.

Talk about these questions:
1) Why were the disciples afraid?
2) Who came to help them?
3) What was Peter able to do when he trusted Jesus?
4) Why do you think he started to sink?

I think Peter started to sink because he started to become more focused on the storm than on Jesus. When his eyes were fixed on Jesus, he was trusting Him. He could walk on water! Peter trusted that Jesus was more powerful than he was. When he took his eyes off Jesus, he started to worry and things went wrong! We need to trust Jesus and keep focused on Him and what He can do and try not to worry about the things that are bothering us. Jesus is good. Jesus is powerful. Jesus loves you! Trust in Him every day as you follow Him.
This video sums this up really well – watch it together now:

There is a verse in Proverbs which talks about us trusting God. Maybe you could learn it off by heart this week?

Choose from these activities:
1) Draw and colour a picture of today’s story. You could print and colour this one if you like.
2) Do some more sinking and floating experiments. Find 5 things that float and 5 that sink.
3) Find some old boxes or things that you don’t need anymore – check with a grown up first! See if you can make a boat out of them. Maybe try sailing it in the bath?!?
4) Print and try this activity sheet.

Finish by listening to this song. If you can remember it, you could sing along but it’s been a while since we sang it together:

Have a good week and don’t forget to send in any pictures of anything you do at home to kath.erwin@ccchurch.org.uk
See you next Sunday!
