Purpose – Your purpose – My purpose – Our purpose
Over lockdown we’ve all had time to think. Initially it was lovely to stop and slow down but as time went on, I realised how much I missed people and even more so the students that I work with….. my purpose.
Going back into work over the past few weeks has been great and I have loved getting back to my job – not via Zoom or a phone call or an email but seeing people in person – I have a purpose! Something I noticed with the year 11 leaving – they felt robbed of their last few months at school and all the work they had done preparing for their exams felt wasted and in the blink of an eye, they had lost their purpose for the next few months. In the past two weeks I have managed to catch up with most of them and the majority of them are back on track and feeling more settled; they are looking forward to college and apprenticeships and they feel that they have a purpose again.
My prayer for them ultimately is for them to find their purpose in Jesus so that they would be fulfilled and live life to the full through Him. In finding a Heavenly purpose, it enhances our earthy purpose – giving us a future and a hope in Him. Knowing that He is ultimately in control puts everything into perspective. The verse I gave them as they left High School was Jeremiah 29 v 11 but I also love the verses that follow on from verse 11 – call on me, pray to me, Seek me, with ALL your heart and I WILL be found by You.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the Lord.
