Hello again everyone!
I hope you’ve had a good week at home. Or maybe at school if you are in one of the year groups that have gone back this week. We’ve had a bit of a mixture of weather this week but I hope you’re still managing to get outside. Did you look for any plants or creatures after we learnt about God’s creation last Sunday? What did you find? Taliah decided to make a fact file about cats last Sunday morning. She drew a beautiful cat and then used her Encyclopaedia to find out some reasons why God created cats the way He did. Did you know cats can use their whiskers to judge distance and space? Amazing!

This Sunday, Julia O is going to be sharing with us but before she does, let’s sing together.

Hi there! It’s the other Julia here! I hope you enjoyed thinking about God’s creation with Julia B last week and discovering new things.
Today we are going to think about choices we make. Already today you have made lots of choices. Did you know that? I know the choices I have made so far. Shall I get up or have a lie in bed? What shall I have for breakfast? What clothes shall I wear? What shall I do today?
Now although we need to make these choices, they are not very important ones – although breakfast is very important!
We can choose to do the right thing. We can choose to be kind. We can choose to tell the truth. We can choose to help someone. Lots and lots of choices that make a difference to other people. Choosing to follow Jesus is the most important choice we can ever make.
We are going to think about the story of David and Saul today, especially a time when David made a choice to do a good thing when he could easily have done the wrong thing.
Look at the film and listen to the story!
Saul was searching for David because he wanted him dead! He was jealous of him and he took 3,000 men with him to look for him. Meanwhile David and his men were trying to stay safe in a cave.
When Saul was near where David was, he needed a wee! He looked for somewhere he could go and saw the cave – the same one David and his men were in!! Uh oh!
Did you see how David came right up close to Saul while he was resting? He could have chosen to kill Saul. That would be the end of it and there would be no more running away. But David chose to do the right thing. The right thing in God’s eyes. He didn’t kill him but just cut off a piece of Saul’s robe and when Saul had left the cave, David followed him and told him he had spared his life.
Talk about these questions:
Do you think David did the right thing?
How did Saul feel about what David had done?
Do you think it was easy for David to be kind to Saul?
It isn’t easy to do good when others aren’t nice to us. It’s hard to be kind when others aren’t kind to us. It’s a choice we make. God can help us to make good choices if we ask him to help us so think about all the choices you can make today that would be the ones that God would want you to make.
There is a verse in the Bible to remind us to do good. To help you learn it I want you to jump up and down 10 times. Are you tired yet? No? Then jump and down 10 more times? Are you tired yet? No? Then keep jumping until you are tired. The Bible tells us we should keep choosing to do the right thing ALWAYS.

See if you can learn the verse and ask someone in your family to test you. Then remember to do what it says and choose to do what is right!
“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good”
Galatians Chapter 6 verse 9.

Now before you do some activities listen to this song.
It talks about trusting in God and not deciding for yourself what is right. Always listen to what He says.
Here are some activities to choose from:
1) Draw and colour a picture of today’s story. Print this one if you like.
2) Talk about the choices you make each day – the easy ones and the hard ones. Play a game of ‘Would you rather?’
3) Print this maze and try and find the pathway through.
4) Print and complete this activity sheet.
Have a good week and see you next Sunday!
Julia O
